Roundtable on “Media and elections, press regulations and misuse risks”

On thursday 29 August 2019 and in parallel to the issue of the fifteenth “Al jarida al-madaniya” under the title “Media and the electoral process, press controls and propaganda machines”, a roundtable on “Media and Elections, press regulations and misuse risks” was organized in the headquarters of the Tunisian General Labor Union.

The seminar was inaugurated by the Assistant Secretary General in charge of Publication and Information of the Tunisian General Labor Union, Sami Taheri, Director of the Economic Program at Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung – North Africa, Maha Ben Gadha, and in the presence of Samir Chefi, Assistant Secretary General in charge of Women, Youth and Workers’ Associations, as well as journalists, experts and civil society members

Mr. Chafik Sarsar also gave an intervention titled “Media and Elections, Will Tunisian Legislation Guarantee Neutrality and Balance?”, Followed by a discussion between the attendees, moderated by journalist Amel Chahed, on the axes of legal controls for media coverage, journalistic ethics and the challenges faced by the national media and journalists, in particular, and the responsibilities of the various intervening bodies and institutions. –

“Al jarida al-madaniya” is a special issue of the Alchâab newspaper, published monthly in partnership with the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation North Africa.
