Call for Tender

Journalistic Articles on Climate Change in North Africa

Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung, North Africa office

With the objective of fostering sustainable development and just transition in North Africa, the Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung (RLS) is seeking to commission journalists, writers and researchers that explores the socio-environmental impacts of climate change in North African countries.

  1. Background

North Africa is particularly vulnerable to the adverse effects of climate change, which poses a critical threat to its socioeconomic stability and environmental sustainability.

The region has already begun to experience decreased agricultural productivity, water scarcity, and an increased frequency and intensity of extreme weather events. These changes not only threaten access to essential resources like water and food but also exacerbate existing social inequalities and economic challenges. The potential for climate-induced socio-economic issues, such as social instabilities, migration, and conflict over dwindling resources, underscores the urgency of addressing these challenges.

To foster a deeper understanding of climate change in North Africa, it is essential to highlight local narratives, challenges, and successes. In this context, we invite North African journalists, writers, and researchers to contribute their voices and perspectives. By producing long-read articles that delve into the complexities of climate change and the pathways toward resilience and adaptation in the region, we aim to inform public discourse and inspire collective action towards a sustainable future.
