Call for Tender: Research Papers on the Situation in Sudan

Call for Tender
Research Papers on the Situation in Sudan
Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung – North Africa Office

With the objective of fostering critical reflection, solidarity, and just alternatives in the face of ongoing crises, the Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung (RLS), North Africa Office, is launching a call for tenders to commission researchers, writers, and activists to produce in-depth papers exploring the socio-political, economic, and gendered impacts of the current situation in Sudan.

Background

Since April 2023, Sudan has been facing one of the most severe humanitarian and political crises in the world. The outbreak of war between rival military factions has resulted in massive internal and external displacement, the collapse of infrastructure and essential services, economic devastation, and widespread violence.

This war has further deepened structural inequalities and disproportionately affected vulnerable communities. Women, youth, and marginalized groups in particular have faced heightened risks, while also playing central roles in community survival, resistance, and local solidarity networks.

At the same time, international media coverage has often overlooked the voices of Sudanese communities, grassroots movements, and local knowledge production. This call for research seeks to help address that gap by supporting the publication of papers that document, analyze, and contextualize the multidimensional consequences of the Sudanese crisis and the possibilities for just alternatives.

General Objective

The aim of this call is to commission well-researched, analytical papers that engage critically with the ongoing war in Sudan and its wider implications. The selected papers will contribute to building knowledge and supporting advocacy for peace, justice, and systemic change—locally, regionally, and globally.
